So what does a group of knitterly friends make when one of us is having a baby or grandbaby? (yes a few of us are closer to that now)

Ravelry Project Catch Up
I popped on my computer several hours ago now, with the full intention of writing a blog post and then walking the dogs. The sun is will be setting soon and I’ve spent my whole afternoon updating my Ravelry Project Page instead – oops!
The Knitted Ends of 2016
My home, like many others at the moment, is full of sick people – yuck! I myself am currently trying to get over a cold, the second virus in four weeks. Touch wood, there is no infection anywhere, so I’m assuming my immune system is just having a spot of trouble fighting it off, on account of it being suppressed by my RA medication. You can’t take your injections when your ill, so I’ve missed three so far, which isn’t helping with the underlying condition, but it could be a lot worse – at least I’ve still been able to knit, while I’ve been awake that is ♥
Hooks & Needles
Yesterday was a busy day for making, no busier than usual, but it was filled with lots of little projects that come and go ‘just like that’.
It’s Pretty Isn’t It?
I can finally talk about my latest FO now the latest issue of Olann and has been published. It’s the Nellie May Shawl designed by OfBlitheSpirit aka Alitzah Grant and I’m sure you must have all seen it by now, as it’s gone viral.
I Can See a Rainbow
Quick, quick, quick as there’s knitting group to go to tonight and serious cake eating to do. Not that I’m supposed to be eating wheat, but bugger it anyway, Victoria Sponge is one of my favourites.
A Promise is a Promise
Some of you probably spied this photograph on my Instagram feed from Wednesday night? I was fully convinced I’d manage to get to the last colour change on my Rainbow Granny Blanket at knitting group, but was far too busy chatting and cooing over Deirdre’s swag from Unravel to speed crochet.
I’m Fffffreezing
It’s so blooming cold in my office today. I’ve the heater on, the sun is shining though the windows (the same windows are letting a draft in), I’m wearing the beautiful wrap Dina bought me from Berlin and my Ombrè Aran Mitts too but, nope. Still cold ✳
February Crochet Rainbows
Rainbow Granny Crochet
As you know I recently finished the last granny square blanket I’d been working on for Kye, so it’s time to start another. Rather surprisingly, I have quite a bit of yarn to try and work my way through, so I’ve been thinking of ways to use more of it and quicker.
It’s Dina’s turn next to get a blanket, so it can be bright and colourful. Bearing this in mind I rifled through my stash – well that’s not strictly true. When your stash is as large as mine, it’s more like looked ‘I looked at the yarn on the shelves in the old stock room’.
I settled on these colours and considered using each held doubled, but a brainwave hit and….
Having looked at what I’d picked, I drew this rough sketch, very rough I know 😦
I’m still using two colours held together, which means I get to use my 6mm crochet hook so the blanket will grow much quicker and it’s going to be so warm and cosy when it’s finished.
The colours will run as follows
- Red & Pink
- Pink & Orange
- Orange & Yellow
- Yellow & Green
- Green & Turquoise
- Turquoise & Blue
- Blue & Purple
- Purple & Red
8 colour changes in total
I’m pretty pleased with how it’s looking so far. As it’s my knitting group project I’m not really expecting to fly through it, they just make a lovely, easy project to work on whilst chatting and laughing.
There’s test knitting happening for the next issue already, but I’m afraid I can’t tell you too much. I can let you know that it’s going to be the beginning of something exciting for Olann and ♥ ♥ ♥ if all goes to plan.
Last but not least, our friends are expecting their first grandchild in about 5 weeks, so I get to knit baby things.
Having cast on a Kelly Brooker Beyond Puerperium last night I just want to keep knitting. The yarn I’m using is Stylecraft Alpaca DK, which I absolutely love. I know I’ve said it before, but it really is surprising how lovely and natural looking this yarn is, given it’s high acrylic content.
It knits up beautifully 🙂
Back to my knitting now as I think we’ve been separated from each other for far too long.
Happy Crafting!
