For some strange reason, I’ve had an urge to make birds nests. I can’t say I know where the ‘need’ and I do mean need, came from, but I know I’d gone to bed dreaming of them for a couple of nights in a row (maybe it means something, ideas anyone?).

You’ll recall this beautiful braid of BFL top I’m sure?
Well I’m a firm believer in using materials you actually like when your learning something, rather than opting for a more economical choice. Yes, this does mean you may well end up throwing something into the bin, that with a little more experience under your belt, would be positively gorgeous. Then again, there’s also the chance that if you dislike the materials you’re using so much, you might actually be turned off of the idea altogether.
I’m telling you all this in order to justify using this yummy woolly goodness to try and learn a new technique, well actually two as it happens.
I popped on my computer several hours ago now, with the full intention of writing a blog post and then walking the dogs. The sun is will be setting soon and I’ve spent my whole afternoon updating my Ravelry Project Page instead – oops!
I included British Fibre Art Magazine as one of the things I had my eye on in February’s These Are a Few of My Favourite Things. The eagle eyed among you, will no doubt have spotted my copy resting (artfully like), under one of my Portuguese knitting projects a couple of posts back.
I was chuffed to bits that I’d managed to get hold of it, because at the time, the print run had all but sold out. Since then there has been a reprint, so I’m imagining you might still be able to pick up your own if you’re interested?
With the second issue due out any day, I thought I should get a post about it written up toot sweet.
This magazine malarkey is getting pretty time consuming, I can tell you. We’ve been working on giving Olann and a brand new look, which to be fair, is amazing and we both love it, but neither of us had anticipated the time involved in making the switch. Fingers crossed though, we have most, if not all of the items sorted and hope to publish tomorrow (I think?) and I have a little time free, to catch up on some other bits and bobs.

I think I’m really beginning to get the hang of this Portuguese Knitting ♥♥♥ (famous last words).

Following on from Part 1 of this topic, I’ve been learning to knit using the Portuguese method.
So what exactly is Portuguese Knitting?

I can’t believe it’s been over a fortnight since my last post, even harder to comprehend, is how quickly the first five weeks of 2017 have flown by. Unfortunately, I’ve spent most of those weeks worrying about my youngest child’s health and the stress that caused, resulted in rather a bad RA flare up.

I’ve been a little slack when it comes to talking about the garments I’ve been knitting for Olann and. To be honest, the time just seems to run away on me and before I know it, the next issue is released and that window of opportunity feels lost. As Deirdre and I have decided to switch, from a bi-monthly publishing schedule to a quarterly one, hopefully they’ll be more time (for both of us) to do the things we planned to.
